Rate Table Formats

There are two formats used when uploading rates to OIPA, or when uploading the initial base set of rates for rates that will fluctuate, such as regulatory rates. Fluctuating rates are calculated using an activity in OIPA, after the initial rate upload and will not use this process on an on-going basis.

The format selected for upload will impact the values required in the wizard. Here is a brief explanation of the two formats.

Aggregate Tables: Aggregate tables always use age as the IntegerCriteria to index the rates. An Aggregate table must be in the correct OIPA format to upload. The specified IntegerCriteria must be placed in the left-most column of your table. All other criteria must be placed in the columns directly to the right of the Integer Criteria column.

Select Tables: Select tables are used when two indexes are needed for the rating strategy. For example, a rate table for a male non-smoker may use both duration and age as methods for indexing rates. In this scenario, the IntegerCriteria for the Select table is duration and it is always specified in the left-most column of your table. Age is then the secondary index and is specified as the row header for each additional column. All age indices must be placed in the columns directly to the right of the IntegerCriteria column.
